For Occupy WallStreet 2012 (a project initiated by Nick Lalla) [IN DEVELOPMENT]
Revolutions have a tendency to turn in on themselves and become paranoid. During October and November 2011 I engaged in online debates and posts within the OccupyLSX Facebook community. My main objective was to argue for freedom of the radical imagination and diversity within the movement and not have it succumb to specific demands and limitations, something it was under a lot of pressure to find. When it arose that occupywallst.org/ had banned people from posting information about Alex Jones, David Icke and other conspiracy theorists in the comments thread on their website, I argued that it was a dangerous move and we should defend the freedom of ideas at all costs. Many agreed with me but others tried to target me and suggest I was antisemitic, displaying the same kind of paranoia inherent in many states and institution. I couldn’t help thinking; If
this was Cambodia in the 1970’s, everyone posting information counter to the movements objectives would be extinguished. My interest in Anarchy stems not from a utopian vision but from constantly challenging the will to power that arises and limits the potential of human emancipation.
Currently in development, are a series of studies that take Hieronymus Bosch’s ‘garden of earthly delights’ and the idea of Art as Journalism; to look at paranoia, aggression, dominance, anarchy, ancient aliens and lizards in 2011, a year that has all-ready used up enough News for the coming decade.
